Through your donations, we have been able to purchase a third bus that now is at Cheti’s C1 location!!!
Below are the latest pictures of the building progress at Cheti.
Building is continuing at C5 and new roof was just added! We just put the roof on the grade 4-8 classrooms thanks to generous donations.
We’ve just finished building a private, sanitary and safe washroom at C5 for boys, a must for our growing CHETI Students. Using funds raised by a former CHETI volunteer, CHETI School was able to build, cement and tile the washroom and add doors for privacy. All that’s left to do is pick a color and start painting!
Attached are the latest pictures of our 3rd and 4th grade classroom. They have recently been plastered, the floor has been paved and the windows and doors have been installed as well.
MAY 2011 — With the latest round of donations to Cheti School this past month, we were able to purchase Cheti School’s second school bus. This will help efficiency and ensure all students can get to the new classrooms at C5 on time.
We also began to build the foundation of our 3rd and 4th grade classrooms at C5!
FEBRUARY 2011 — New paintings now decorate the walls of C1. A new water well also has been built so students can get water more easily instead of purchasing it. Cheti also built a new toilet system.
FEBRUARY 2011 — Much still needs to be done at the C5 location. Cheti has bought another acre of land and is opening up a nursery this month in the current “kitchen” until the real nursery can be built. The cement building will house Standard 1 and 2 (first and second graders) and will collect kids from the area by C1 (the slums of Arusha) and the mountain areas as well. There will be about 40 students in each class. Cheti first needs to buy a bus, fix the windows and doors, bring the desks, purchase the water tube — all before the kids can start first and second grade. The goal is to have kids in standard classrooms by the first week of March.
